Developed from a comedy sketch, where a man wakes up in an alternate universe married to a stranger, the story follows a toxic character who must grapple with his own preconceived notions of family and relationships when his comically absurd new reality forces him to discover that everything he understood about love was wrong.
As he races across town to find Eleanor, he discovers his home now occupied by another couple, his ambitious sister is now depressed and hoarding, and the loudmouth terrorizing him for fun is a brother who never before existed. When his new brother helps him find Eleanor, she’s single, very much not pregnant, and perfectly happy never having met him. His brother and sister slowly unravel, threatening the safety of both Heather and Eleanor in the growing chaos, and Mike must face his own struggle with both the new reality and the discovery of all the hard truths of his old reality.
Mike and Eleanor are having a baby. When Mike and Eleanor’s perfect plans diverge due to her career ambitions, they have a blow-out fight, which sends Eleanor to her mother’s and Mike into a regressive meltdown. Mike emerges from his funk, suddenly in a strange house with a completely different wife named Heather.
